CABLE AND COMBINATION ROPE
Cable
There are many types of cables, but the following are the main ones used in fishing:
Superseale cable: This type of cable is used in fishing because of its structure (6x19 or 6x25), as it has a thick outer sheath that is more resistant to wear. It can have a metal or textile core.
Compact cable: Like the superseale, it has a thick outer sheath. But, unlike seale, the outer layer is compacted, as its name suggests. As such, the same diameter of compact cable has a greater steel content than seale and therefore is more resistant to abrasion and has a higher breaking load. It too can have a metal or textile core.
Other types of cable, such as stainless steel, may also be used but they are less common. Naberan also offers these sorts of cables.
Combination rope
Combination rope is made of steel cable and polypropylene fibre. Each steel wire is sheathed in polypropylene fibre. This product’s technical characteristics are the result of the combination of the mechanical properties of fibre rope and steel cable: the hardness and minimal elongation of steel cable, and the lightness and flexibility of PP rope.
Its properties give it multiple uses in trawl: cork line, bridles, middle leg for pelagic trawls and more.
It may be produced with galvanised or stainless wires, and can have a metal or textile core.
